Neofusicoccum parvum, A New Agent of Sequoia Canker and Dieback Identified in Geneva, Switzerland

چکیده
Fungi were isolated in pure cultures from decaying giant sequoias Geneva (Switzerland). Isolates genetically identified by ITS rDNA sequencing. Young sequoia trees artificially infected with a culture of Botryosphaeria parva. Henle-Koch’s Postulates demonstrated that parva was pathogenic to Sequoiadendron giganteum. When analysing the microorganisms associated canker and dieback symptoms (Sequoiadendron giganteum) Geneva, fungus Neofusicoccum parvum (Pennycook & Samuels) Crous, Slippers A.J.L. Phillips, teleomorph isolated, whereas such are commonly Fusicoccum aesculi (teleomorph dothidea). These two fungal species belong same genus Botryosphaeriaceae family. Because causing cankers diebacks other woody around world, we extended analysis displaying order evaluate involvement increasing Geneva. Dried twigs, trunk, branch diseased sampled on several distinct sites. From all samples, fungi showed phenotype typical species. then at level. Subsequently inoculated young trees, re-isolated provoked symptoms, re-identified fulfil postulates. The identification confirmed present sites, while retrieved only once alone. inoculation isolates for first time this able develop could, therefore, be major cause dying Lake area.

As a result of the increasing economic impact of grapevine trunk diseases on viticulture worldwide, efficient and viable control strategies are urgently needed. However, understanding both plant-pathogen interactions and plant physiological changes related to these diseases is fundamental to such an achievement. In this study, we analyzed the effect of inoculation with the Botryosphaeria diebac...

STUDY OBJECTIVES There is limited information regarding sleep duration and determinants in Switzerland. We aimed to assess the trends and determinants of time in bed as a proxy for sleep duration in the Swiss canton of Geneva. METHODS Data from repeated, independent cross-sectional representative samples of adults (≥ 18 years) of the Geneva population were collected between 2005 and 2011. Sel...
متن کاملFlowering as the Most Highly Sensitive Period of Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L. cv Mourvèdre) to the Botryosphaeria Dieback Agents Neofusicoccum parvum and Diplodia seriata Infection
Botryosphaeria dieback is a fungal grapevine trunk disease that currently represents a threat for viticulture worldwide because of the important economical losses due to reduced yield of affected plants and their premature death. Neofusicoccum parvum and Diplodia seriata are among the causal agents. Vine green stems were artificially infected with N. parvum or D. seriata at the onset of three d...
